Many safari itineraries try to squeeze Nairobi to the Mara into a single day. It can be done — but it often means a dawn departure, hours on the road, and arriving tired just as the best wildlife viewing begins.

An overnight in Narok changes the rhythm of the whole trip.

Arrive rested, not road-worn

Splitting the drive gives you an unhurried afternoon, a proper dinner and a full night's sleep. The next morning you cover the final stretch fresh, and reach the reserve ready to make the most of it.

Ideal for late flights and early starts

Landing in Nairobi in the afternoon? Driving on to Narok the same day is very manageable, and leaves the reserve for the morning. On the way back, a night in Narok means you are not racing an evening flight after a dusty final game drive.

A softer landing after the reserve

After several days of early starts, a quiet room, a hot shower and a hearty meal make a real difference. It is also a good moment to sort photographs, catch up on messages and reset before the city.

What to look for in a Narok stopover

  • Easy to find. The hotel is opposite the Narok Cereals Board on the Mai Mahiu – Narok Road.
  • Breakfast included. Every Walabi Mara rate includes breakfast, with half or full board available.
  • Flexible requests. Ask for an early breakfast when you book and the request goes straight to the front desk.

Choosing your room

Travelling as friends or colleagues? The Twin Room has two separate single beds. Couples often choose the Deluxe Room for its balcony and two windows, while the Superior Room adds a separate lounge seating area. Compare them all on the rooms page.
